SIDN (Stichting Internet Domeinregistratie Nederland)

Domain names have an important function on the internet. They make it possible to contact the computers, websites and email boxes of organisations, companies and individuals in an easy way.

IP-addresses form the basis for the domain name system. An IP-address is a unique number, or address if you will, and every computer on the internet has one. In Europe, these numbers are provided for by the RIPE. Because words are easier to remember than numbers, the IP-addresses are translated into a domain name.

To guarantee its uniqueness, a domain name must also be registered. In The Netherlands, de Stichting Domeinregistratie Nederland (SIDN) is responsible for the registration. Only the members of the SIDN, like Comsenso, can register domain names for their customers with the SIDN.
